  1. Costing troubleshooting

Where to start when a cost looks wrong: a $0.00 unit cost, zero COGS, a recipe that disagrees with its batch, a cost that jumped, or stock below zero.

  2. Why is COGS zero on a sale?

A fulfilled order shows $0.00 COGS and a margin that is far too high. Find out why the product had no cost when it shipped, and fix the sales after it.

  3. Why does my recipe cost differ from my batch cost?

A recipe shows what one unit costs to make at today's prices. A batch keeps what it cost on the day it started. Overhead is on the recipe only.

  4. Why did my unit cost change after a purchase?

A material's unit cost is a moving weighted average, so every purchase moves it. Find the entry that moved it too far and reverse a wrong purchase.

  5. Negative stock troubleshooting

A batch or sale that runs short goes through, and the count goes below zero. What Short, Stock went negative and Untracked production mean.

  6. Costing FAQ: weighted average, not FIFO

Which costing method Trackost uses (moving weighted average, not FIFO or LIFO), what is inside COGS (labor yes, overhead no), and why old numbers never change.
